OUR VISION
WE WILL BE THE TRUSTED LEADER IN ORTHOPEDIC CARE AND MEDICINE, RECOGNIZED NATIONALLY FOR OUR SUPERIOR CLINICAL OUTCOMES, INNOVATION AND PATIENT VALUE.
PRESENTING THE 2016 HOI ANNUAL OUTCOMES REPORT
Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI) marked ve years of service in 2015. In this transformational era for our industry, HOI has leveraged change and emerged as an industry and community leader. It is our privilege to share with you our outcomes from the past year, which illustrate how we are sustaining and adding to this momentum.
In this short time, HOI has emerged as a trusted leader in orthopedic care. Our specialty services have become recognized nationally for superior clinical outcomes and patient value. HOI’s specialists have made, and continue to make, transformational contributions to the delivery of high quality orthopedic and musculoskeletal care. We pride ourselves on being a nimble organization that adapts quickly to strategic changes that enhance the value of our services.
Behind each of the milestones we’ve celebrated is one overarching goal: empowering individuals to regain active, ful lling lives by reducing pain, increasing mobility and restoring health. To provide maximum value for our patients, we continually strive for ever-greater improvements. We measure our progress and share best practices with the orthopedic community. And, because we believe in giving back to our local community, we are wholeheartedly pursuing health outreach and charity care.
Achievements from this past year are reported in the following pages. In 2015, we were especially pleased to be one of just 207 hospitals nationwide, and one of seven in California, to earn the highest, ve-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for Patient Experience. As has been true for every year of operation, our volume and expertise continues to increase. For the fourth consecutive year, HOI has performed more total hip and knee replacements than any other provider in the State of California.
Given HOI’s strong foundation, we are highly optimistic about what the next ve years will bring. In the following pages, look for speci c ways HOI is meeting the challenges of sustaining an exemplary level of performance, and glean insights into the value-based care we have pioneered. We hope you will bene t from reading about history in the making at HOI.
Sincerely,
Robert S. Gorab, MD Dereesa Purtell Reid, MBA
